Homegrown baker and Mile Zero local Krista Nguyen-Forshner will be competing on Wall of Bakers next month, with her episode airing on Food Network Canada on April 25.

Nguyen-Forshner says it’s a big dream come true, and was thrilled to be chosen, going head-to-head with bakers from across the country.

“Being born and raised here, having this community support me and my entire family throughout the years, has been the reason for my success in this adventure,” said Nguyen-Forshner. “I’m incredibly grateful and humbled to be put in the same category as the amazing home bakers and chefs I was fortunate enough to meet during it all.”

Nguyen-Forshner added that she’s been obsessed with baking since she was eight years old, and the passion never left, prompting her to start her own custom baking business specializing in cakes, cupcakes, and other sweet treats.

“Once I started that business, I knew I was obsessed and being on a baking competition show quickly turned into one of my biggest dreams. I always told myself, if you can get on Food Network Canada just by doing something you really love, then it’s meant to be,” she said.

Her family and her husband have always been her biggest fans all throughout her baking career, said Nguyen-Forshner, who’s grateful for the opportunity to showcase her talent.

“My wonderful husband was the most supportive any person could be to another and changed his whole world around to make sure I could chase this dream,” said Nguyen-Forshner.

She also had some kind words for her competitors, and had a blast baking and creating on set in Toronto.

“Every single person I worked with was so down to earth and fun. I’d do it all again in a heartbeat,” said Nguyen-Forshne.
