The City of Terrace has been recognised for its economic development initiatives by the British Columbia Economic Development Association (BCEDA).
The city won a BCEDA award in the category of economic development and marketing innovation for its ‘northwest BC workforce and resident attraction initiative’. In the same category, the Village of Ashcroft also won an award for its Experience Ashcroft pocket guide.
Terrace was one of several local governments to be honoured as part of an award for the Northwest BC Workforce and Resident Attraction Initiative (WARA) at this year’s BC Economic Development Awards.
The WARA team included the City of Terrace, District of Kitimat, City of Prince Rupert, Village of Hazelton, District of New Hazelton, and Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine. The group was awarded with the Economic Development Marketing Innovation Award in the over-20,000 population category, which recognizes achievement in marketing initiatives that support economic development.
“It’s exciting to see our partnership recognized for the hard work put in over the past few years to support the employers in the region,” said Terrace mayor Carol Leclerc.
“We were able to work together and create much-needed, high-quality resources that truly capture the opportunity and beauty in the area,” she said, adding, “We’re up for the task of helping employers of all sizes and sectors find people to not only fill job vacancies, but also fill a role in their community and call northwest BC ‘home.”
Other recipients of the 2022 BCEDA Awards include the Regional District of Central Kootenay and Chilliwack Economic Resource Network in the community project award category.
Regional District of Central Kootenay also won an economic recovery and resiliency award that it shared with the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce.
Neskonlith Indian Band and the National Consortium for Indigenous Economic Dev. & TRICORP were recipients of the economic reconciliation award.
