A new national farm management program aims to help producers future-proof their business.
Presented by Bridges to Success, the Capstone program will allow attendees to apply what they learn directly to their own operations, through a mixture of expert instruction, practical application, industry exposure and peer learning.
“Canadian farmers are managing increasingly complex businesses in ever changing and challenging environments,” said founder of Bridges to Success and Capstone Program developer Heather Broughton. “Production remains important, but today’s farm leaders must also understand finance, strategy, people, succession, risk and the broader environment in which their businesses operate.”
The program focuses less on the day-to-day operations of agricultural business and instead encourages producers to look at aspects of future planning such as strategic planning, financial management, leadership and marketing, among others.
The first session of the program will be held in Saskatoon from Dec. 1-5, with further iterations to be held in Halifax and Calgary in 2027 and Montreal, Quebec and Ottawa in 2028.
The program is open to farm owners, successor-generation leaders, farm managers, family farm partners, agribusiness entrepreneurs and producers seeking strategic direction, and is designed to accommodate operations of all sizes.
Registration closes Nov. 13, and enrolment is limited.
